Connor Storrie to Host ‘SNL’ as ‘Heated Rivalry’ Explodes into a Global Phenomenon

Connor Storrie will host Saturday Night Live on Feb. 28, NBC announced during its Jan. 31 broadcast, a booking that affirms just how far Heated Rivalry has come from its Canadian streaming origins to a show on everyone’s lips around the world.

The announcement marks Storrie’s first SNL hosting gig and represents a significant milestone for the Crave series, which premiered in November and has since become an unlikely crossover phenomenon. The queer hockey romance—adapted from Rachel Reid’s bestselling novel—was rejected by multiple American streamers before finding a home in Canada.

Storrie will be joined by musical guest Mumford & Sons. The episode makes him Season 51’s 13th host, following Alexander Skarsgård, Teyana Taylor, and Finn Wolfhard in the show’s 2026 lineup.

The booking comes as SNL navigates its own transition.

The season has seen a wave of legacy cast departures, including Bowen Yang‘s surprise exit ahead of the Dec. 20 episode. Yang, who appeared alongside Wicked co-star Ariana Grande in his final show, later reflected on his decision to leave: “I have this very beautiful thing where I get to say that I stayed on exactly as long as I wanted to.”

For Heated Rivalry, the SNL slot represents something American networks couldn’t—or wouldn’t—provide: a platform that treats queer romance as mainstream entertainment rather than niche programming. Storrie and co-star Hudson Williams have risen in tandem since the show’s premiere, but this booking puts Storrie squarely in the legacy comedy institution’s spotlight.

The show returns Feb. 28 after a break.

Whether SNL leans into Heated Rivalry‘s premise or plays it safe will say more about American television’s comfort with queer content than any streaming deal ever could.
